13th of February 2020: The new Ambassador of Algeria presents his credentials to Queen Elizabeth II

H.E Abderrahmane Benguerrah, the new Ambassador of Algeria to the Court of St James's, presented his letters of credence  to  Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace, in the presence of members of the Embassy.

Queen Elizabeth II then held an audience with Mr. Abderrahmane Benguerrah, before greeting the members of the Embassy.

Back to the Algerian Embassy, H.E Abderrahmane Benguerrah hosted the traditional reception for the members of the diplomatic corps and officials representing the British authorities.

 

21st of January 2020: High-level meeting on business opportunities in Algeria

Ambassador UKA summit1As a side event to the “UK / Africa Investment Summit” held on January 20 in London, the Embassy of Algeria organized in collaboration with the Algerian-British Business Council and “ Developing Markets Associates ”, a high-level meeting on business opportunities in Algeria as well as a technology forum, in which the Minister of Industry and Mines, Mr. Ferhat Air Ali Brahem, and the delegation that accompanied him took part .

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson's representative for the partnership with Algeria, Lord Richard Risby, the British Ambassador to Algiers, Barry Lowen, CEOs of national public and private companies and British economic groups as well as presidents of organizations employers attended this event which presented the Algerian economy with its strengths and opportunities.

20th of January, 2020: Algeria participates in the UK-Africa Investment Summit

Farhat Ait AliA delegation led by the Minister of Industry and Mines, Ferhat Ait Ali Brahem, took part in the UK-Africa Investment Summit held on January 20 in London.

The members of the Algerian delegation, comprising senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Mines and the Environment as well as leaders of national public and private companies, participated in the work of the four workshops set up for the Summit: “Sustainable finance and infrastructure", "trade and investment", "African opportunities and growth" and the "clean energy transformation".

During his stay, Mr. Ferhat Ait Ali, met with M. Graham Stuart, Minister for Investment, M. Andrew Murrison, Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, as well as M. Conor Burns, Minister of State at the Department for International Trade, for discussions on the state of relations between the two countries, and ways and means to further strengthen and diversify bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.

7-8 December 2018: beatification of 19 clergymen and women in Algeria

beatificationThe Catholic Church has beatified on the 7th of December 2018 in Algeria 19 clergymen and women killed by the terrorists.

The ceremony, the first of its kind in a Muslim country, was attended by the Algerian Religious Affairs Minister Mohamed Aissa, the Cardinal Angelo Becciu, representative of Pope Francis, the ambassadors of several countries and various religious dignitaries and by more than 1,300 people.

M. Mohamed Aissa hailed this gathering that brought together Muslims and Christians as “a universal message for peace and a confirmation that living together in harmony in Algeria is possible.”

Pope Francis said in a message read by Cardinal Angelo Becciu, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints that that this unprecedented event will draw a great sign of brotherhood in the algerian sky for the whole world.”

For the foreign medias, it’s “a symbol of friendship”, a “message of peace and living together from Algeria” and “a real opportunity to strengthen the understanding between Muslims and Christians”.

 


31st of October-1st on November 2018: visit of M. Temmar to UK

TemmarMr Abdelwahid Temmar Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City participated on Wednesday 31st of October 2018 in Liverpool in the official ceremony celebrating the World Cities Day, as a guest of honor.

The minister, who was accompanied by Algeria’s Ambassador to London Amar Abba, has outlined in his speech, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika policies on housing.

During his stay in Liverpool, Mr Temmar discussed with UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UNHabitat), Mrs Maimunah Mohd Sharif, cooperation and coordination between the two parties.

On the 1st of November, the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City came to London and presented to an audience of Algerians living in the UK, the Public Promotional Housing (LPP) formula designed for the members of the national community abroad.

During the meeting organised Thursday at the Algerian embassy in London by the Ambassador Amar Abba, Mr Temmar set out all aspects related to the formula and the communication mechanisms developed in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry.
